Red River Valley Speedway Has Full Slate Scheduled, Highlighted by WOO Sprints and RR Mod Tour

The tentative Red River Valley Speedway schedule is out for 2020. There are still some details being ironed out but for the most part we’ve got a great picture of what’s ahead at the West Fargo 3/8-mile oval. The schedule (like all tracks and events) could be impacted by what’s currently happening with the Coronavirus and restrictions — we obviously don’t know what the coming weeks hold. As of now, with all track schedules and season previews, I will proceed as if all things are normal as scheduled until we hear differently. The schedule is subject to change. The track has a Test and Tune scheduled for April 24 with the season opener set for May 1. There are some big events set for the West Fargo oval, highlighted by the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars on Aug. 23. The IMCA Stock Cars will be the support class. The Red River Modified Tour, presented by Sanders Metal Products, will have two stops at Red River Valley on July 31 (a Friday) and Aug. 2 (a Sunday). That series could easily pull some top drivers from the southern part of the United Stats The Dakota Cat Mod Shootout is set for July 24 which has produced some good racing at both Norman County Raceway and RRVS. The Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints will make three appearances at the track, including on May 22, June 12 and June 26. The annual Red River Valley Fair race is July 12. Fan Appreciation and Hall of Fame Night are July 17. The IMCA Stock Car King Pin Klash is June 19.

RaceChaser Notes —Long-time Viking Speedway late model competitor Clarence Washburn of Hector, Minn., was inducted into the KRA Speedway Hall of Fame on Jan. 25. Washburn is still racing late models at age 76 — clearly a driver with racing in his blood. —I will preview Red River Valley Speedway's sister track, Norman County Raceway next.
